Grand Junction, CO - The Grand Junction Police Department (GJPD) is pleased to announce its 33rd annual Shop with a Cop event! This long-standing tradition brings together law enforcement officers and Mesa County students for a day of holiday shopping and meaningful connections.
On Tuesday, December 9, and Thursday, December 11, officers from local law enforcement agencies will join GJPD in supporting 50 fifth graders for a day of fun, food, and gift giving. The program, which began in 1992 with seven children and a handful of GJPD officers, has since grown into an annual community event that continues to brighten the holidays for local families.
Students start the day with breakfast provided by McDonald’s, shop for gifts at Rimrock Walmart and Mesa Mall, enjoy lunch donated by Chick-fil-A, and receive their presents lovingly wrapped by dedicated volunteers.
This program is made possible through generous donations from Moose 92.3 FM, Mesa County Crime Stoppers, Rimrock Walmart, Mesa Mall, McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A, the GJPD Fraternal Orders of Police organization, the Grand Junction Fire Association, Foresight Village Apartments, Loya Family Roofing, First Light Home Care, Gallagher’s Flooring, Rem’s Place, Warehouse 2565, Lucky Me Liquor, Top Shop Guns, Toyota, and many community members and businesses.
GJPD is grateful for the support of donors, volunteers, community members, and officers who continue to make this beloved event a highlight of the holiday season.
