The Grand Junction Police Department is proud to announce the opening of volunteer positions within our Victim Services Unit. We are looking for compassionate and dedicated individuals who want to make a positive impact on the lives of victims and their families.
The Grand Junction Police Department Victim Services Unit is available to any victim needing support, information, or resources. Volunteers are available every hour, 365 days a year, to provide support when officers request their presence on scene. In addition, volunteers provide support during ongoing investigations and are equipped to deal with difficult incidents such as domestic violence, sex assault, or unattended deaths.
The GJPD Victim Services Fall Academy runs from September 21 through October 9, 2024, with an all-day session on Saturday, September 21, and sessions every Monday and Wednesday evening during the duration of the academy.
Program Requirements:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Pass a criminal background check
- Complete the 35-hour Victim Advocate Training Academy
- Complete an interview
- Pass a CVSA screening
- Commit to four on-call shifts a month (12 hours each)
- Attend a monthly Victim Services meeting
- Have reliable transportation and current insurance
