UPDATE (03/29/25):
On the afternoon of March 28, 2025, the individual in the wheelchair succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. The Mesa County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased once proper notifications have been made.
The investigation into this crash remains ongoing and there is no further information available at this time.

The Grand Junction Police Department responded to a vehicle vs wheelchair crash at the intersection of Patterson Road and Rio Grande Drive, at approximately 2:55 p.m. on March 28, 2025.
A truck turning eastbound onto Patterson Road struck a person in a wheelchair who was crossing the roadway at Rio Grande Drive. The person in the wheelchair was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
All lanes of Patterson Road between 28 Road and 28 1/4 Road will remain closed for some time while law enforcement investigates this crash. There is no additional information available at this time.
