Grand Junction, CO - Officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to an assault in progress at approximately 3:30 p.m. on September 23, 2025, at Berry’s Car Wash located at 2884 North Avenue.
Through the investigation, officers learned that a male had been threatening individuals at the business and struck another male during a verbal dispute. The suspect fled in a vehicle but was located a short time later in the parking lot of Auto Zone, located at 2848 North Avenue. He attempted to flee on foot but was quickly taken into custody by officers.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for evaluation of injuries. The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Billy Knoeppchen, was arrested on an unrelated warrant, with additional charges pending related to this incident.
This is believed to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community. The investigation remains ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
