After continual efforts to locate 23-year-old James Moen, Rangers of the Colorado National Monument were notified on 1/25/24 at approximately 4:00 p.m. of a vehicle found in the area of Ute Canyon Overlook. Rangers and Mesa County Law Enforcement responded and located a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle belonging to James Moen. On 1/26/24, Members of the Mesa County Search and Rescue made their way to the crash site and located a deceased person inside the vehicle matching the description of James Moen.
James was last seen and reported missing on 1/9/2024, read the original release here. The Mesa County Coroner's Office is assisting with this investigation, the cause and manner of death is still under investigation. The Grand Junction Police Department is grateful to the community for its support and help in locating James Moen.
