On Friday, March 29, 2024, the Grand Junction Police Officers’ Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #68, in coordination with the Grand Junction Police Department, will be hosting a special event called “Elementary Jump with Cops” event, aimed at fostering positive relationships between children and local police officers. This event will take place at Whitman Park, located at N 4th Street and Ute Avenue, from 2-6 p.m.
“Elementary Jump with Cops” is a unique initiative that brings together Grand Junction Police Officers and the community’s youth for a day of fun and camaraderie. This event will feature various activities including:
- Meet and Greet: Children of elementary age have the opportunity to meet and interact with Grand Junction Police Officers in a relaxed and enjoyable environment, fostering trust and understanding.
- Bump and jump houses: Kids can jump in bounce houses alongside Grand Junction Police Officers, building positive relationships and encouraging physical activity.
- Educational games: Grand Junction Police personnel will be on hand to educate kids about safety, teamwork, and the role of the police, promoting positive engagement and learning.
“We are excited the Fraternal Order of Police is hosting the ‘Elementary Jump with Cops’ event!” said Grand Junction Police School Resource Officer and event organizer, Brenton Allen. “By promoting positive interactions and building trust, we hope to continue to strengthen the bond between our community’s youth and our dedicated team of law enforcement officers.”
The event is open to children ages 3-12, and admission is free. Families are asked to join in the fun and stay with their kids during their time at the event. A waiver to participate in the activities must be signed upon arrival.
