Deputy Chief Shawn Hasty has been in law enforcement since 1994, beginning his career in Florida with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, where he worked for 4 years before starting with the Grand Junction Police Department in 1998. While at the Grand Junction Police Department, Deputy Chief Hasty has been a Field Training Officer, Instructor (Defensive Tactics, Firearms, Patrol Tactics), Drug Task Force Detective, and SWAT operator.
Deputy Chief Hasty moved up the ranks to the position of Commander where he was assigned to Patrol and eventually to the Investigations Division. While assigned to the Investigations Division as a Commander, Deputy Chief Hasty oversaw 16 Detectives, four Civilian Investigators, and three Sergeants in property crimes, persons crimes, and the Drug Task Force. In addition to Investigations, Deputy Chief Hasty was responsible for the Intel Unit, Victim Services Program, and the SWAT team.
As Deputy Chief of Operations, he currently oversees the Patrol Division, including Traffic, Police Service Technicians, Parking Compliance, Park Rangers, and SWAT.
