GJPD Responds to Shoplifting

Grand Junction, CO - On December 23, 2025, at approximately 7:45 a.m., officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of a shoplifting incident at Walmart, located at 2881 North Avenue.

When officers attempted to contact the suspect, he became physically combative and assaulted officers. The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Lee Reed, was subsequently taken into custody.

Reed was arrested and remanded to the Mesa County Detention Facility on his existing warrants and the following charges:

  • 2nd Degree Assault (2 counts)
  • Theft
  • Trespassing
  • Obstruction
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of a Schedule I/II Illegal Substance
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

During the incident, a Grand Junction Police officer sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital for evaluation of non-life-threatening injuries.
