Grand Junction, Colo. — At 3:36 p.m., the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to reports of a vehicle fire near the intersection of South Avenue and South 6th Street. Upon arrival, crews encountered multiple vehicles and nearby sheds fully involved, with heavy black smoke visible throughout the downtown area.
Firefighters acted swiftly to extinguish the burning vehicles and applied firefighting foam to structures, which were reported to contain propane and oxygen bottles. Crews worked in extreme heat, with temperatures reaching 100 degrees, to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to additional vehicles stored nearby.
One individual was evaluated on the scene. The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.
The Grand Junction Police Department provided assistance with scene safety and traffic control.
