Grand Junction, CO — At 5:48 p.m., the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a reported residential structure fire in the 280 block of Holly Lane. Neighbors called 9-1-1 to report visible smoke and flames coming from the roof of a single-story home. The caller also stated they had knocked on the door without receiving an answer and believed there were dogs inside.
Upon arrival, firefighters initiated an offensive fire attack and conducted a search of the residence. Crews confirmed that no one was home at the time of the fire and that all pets were safe and accounted for. There are no known injuries as a result of the fire. The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.
The American Red Cross is assisting two adults and two dogs who were displaced by the fire. The Grand Junction Police Department provided support with scene safety and traffic control, and GJPD Victim Advocates also responded to support those affected.
