GJPD Thanks Community for Successful National Night Out

officer smiling with watermelonThe Grand Junction Police Department extends a heartfelt thank you to all the members of our community who participated in this year’s National Night Out event, held on August 6, 2024. The event was a tremendous success, bringing together local residents and law enforcement in a spirit of unity and cooperation. National Night Out, introduced in August 1984 in Philadelphia, began with 2.5 million neighbors across 400 communities in 23 states. Now, 41 years later, the event includes over 17,000 communities nationwide, with 71 cities in Colorado alone participating.officer smiling

This year, 18 Grand Junction neighborhoods celebrated with block parties, cookouts, potlucks, ice cream socials, and various activities. Our first responders thoroughly enjoyed visiting your neighborhoods, reconnecting with familiar faces, and making new friends.

By coming together with our neighbors and law enforcement, we build lasting relationships that pave the way for a safer, more connected future for everyone.”

The Grand Junction Police Department would like to extend special thanks to the Grand Junction Fire Department, Crime Stoppers of Mesa County, Grand Junction Parks and Recreation, and the countless members of the community whose participation helped make this year’s National Night Out a success. Your involvement is deeply appreciated and instrumental in fostering a strong, unified community.
