UPDATE:
On 06/11/24, officers with the Grand Junction Police Department completed their investigation of a two-vehicle crash involving a deputy from the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office which occurred at S 5th Street and Pitkin Avenue on 05/31/24. The Grand Junction Police Department issued a citation to Deputy David Furnace for Failure to Yield Right of Way at an Intersection.

Officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a Deputy from the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office at the intersection of S 5th Street and Pitkin Avenue on 05/31/24, at approximately 11:56 a.m. The Deputy was responding emergent to a call for service when the crash occurred. The Deputy was evaluated on scene for minor injuries and the other driver who sustained minor injuries was transported to the hospital by the Grand Junction Fire Department for evaluation. This crash is being investigated by the Grand Junction Police Department and there is no further information available at this time.
