Grand Junction, CO - On June 14, 2025, officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a vehicle versus motorcycle crash near the intersection of N 7th Street and Bunting Avenue.
An SUV traveling southbound on N 7th Street crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a motorcycle. The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Preliminary investigation identified the driver of the SUV as 29-year-old Kalynn Settle.
On July 4, 2025, the motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.
Following a thorough investigation, a warrant was issued for Settle’s arrest for the following charges:
- Vehicular Homicide
- Careless Driving Causing Death
- DUI
- Unlawful Use of a Controlled Substance
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Unlawful Possession of Any Material that Contains Any Quantity of Ketamine
- Unlawful Possession of Any Material that Contains More Than 4 Grams of a Schedule I or II Controlled Substance
- No Proof of Insurance
On September 13, 2025, Settle turned herself into the Mesa County Detention Facility.
