Suspect in Custody After Burglary

On August 18, 2025, at approximately 11:45 a.m., officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress on the 2600 block of Dahlia Drive.

Through the course of the investigation, officers learned that a female suspect had broken a front window of her ex-boyfriend’s home and also caused damage to a vehicle parked in the driveway.

An officer later located the suspect’s vehicle in a dirt lot in the 2700 block of H Road, and made contact with the suspect, identified as 40-year-old Rachael Brakey. When advised she was under arrest, Brakey quickly drove off at a high rate of speed, leading officers in a short pursuit. Brakey eventually stopped, exited her vehicle, and charged towards officers. Officers were able to safely take her into custody without further incident.

Brakey was arrested and booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:

  • 2nd Degree Burglary
  • Vehicular Eluding
  • 1st Degree Criminal Trespass
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Theft
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Domestic Violence

This is believed to be an isolated incident. The case remains under investigation. There is no ongoing danger to the community, and no further information is available at this time.
