1. Why was glass removed from the new dual stream program?

Dual stream recycling is collected with automated trucks to maximize efficiency. If glass were collected with containers using this method the resulting breakage would contaminate other materials. Excluding glass from curbside pickup at this time is the only way to preserve the quality of the recyclables. The recycling department will continue to explore collection options and possible drop sites throughout the community.

2. When will my residence be included in the new dual stream program?

A timeline is currently being developed, with every intention to include all single-family residences within the city limits within the next two years. 

3. Will smaller recycling/yard waste bins be available in the future?

The recycling department is gathering information and welcomes feedback from participants as we continue to develop and introduce more areas to the dual stream collection program. 

4. What if I have more materials than what fits into the bin?

There is the option to bring materials to the free public drop off open six days a week located at 333 West Avenue. Frequency of collection will now be every other week in hopes of accommodating recycling participants.

5. Are there any other options for glass other than the drop off on West Avenue?

Glass is accepted at the Recycling Drop Off Center at 333 West Avenue as well as three neighborhood glass-only drop sites. For more information on glass recycling locations, call 970-256-4136.

6. What happens if I forget to set out my recycle bins?

Special pick ups are offered for a fee if you are unable to wait until your next collection date. Call the recycling department to schedule an extra pick up at 970-256-4136.
