Basement Fire Displaces Two Residents and Dog on North 21st Street

Grand Junction, Colo. — At 8:32 a.m., the Grand Junction Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire on the 2100 block of North 21st Street. The homeowners called 9-1-1 after discovering a fire in the basement of their residence.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and intense heat coming from the basement. Crews acted quickly to ensure the safety of the residents and determine the most effective access to the difficult-to-reach fire. Firefighters were able to suppress the flames through an exterior window and opened interior walls to confirm that the fire was fully extinguished.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation.

The Grand Junction Police Department assisted with scene safety, and GJPD Victim Advocates were dispatched to support the affected residents. The American Red Cross is providing assistance to two displaced individuals and their pet dog.
