A section of the Monument View Trail is closed. The Colorado River has risen enough to push water across the trail under the Redlands Parkway overpass.
This detour has a significant impact on bicycle commuters between Grand Junction and Fruita as there are no established access points to the trail between I-70 and Redlands Parkway. The closure requires bicycle traffic to detour at Walker Wildlife using Railhead Circle and travel a longer stretch down River Road in the bike lanes.
Motorists are asked to please share the road and keep an eye out for cyclists as roadway bike lane use will increase during the remaining spring snowmelt.
