The city will launch a study of 7th Street to develop recommendations to make it a connected low-stress active transportation corridor from the Riverfront Trail to Horizon Drive.
A Steering Committee is being established to assist in defining the study goals in the context of Pedestrian Bike Plan recommended facilities; identify high-risk locations; review the approach of and information received during public outreach; determine preferred alternatives; and support the development of recommendations.
The Steering Committee will include 11-17 individuals and representatives of organizations with specific interests along the 7th Street corridor, representing a diverse cross-section of the community, ranging in age, occupation, life experience, and interest. Ideally, the Steering Committee will include transportation planners and engineers; adjacent businesses and larger institutions; private property owners; and those who travel or have a desire to travel along the corridor The Steering Committee is proposed to meet at least three times over the course of the study. Applications for interested community members open on May 30, 2024. Apply online at gjcity.org.
