The Grand Junction Police Department has made an arrest in the case of the fire along the riverside trail near the 2500 block of Riverside Parkway on 2/29/2024 at approximately 3:30 p.m. Samantha Lomaintewa (32) set the fire after a disagreement with another unhoused individual who is known to camp in that area. She has been arrested on the following charges:
- 2nd Degree Arson
- Criminal Mischief
- Assault in the Third Degree
Lomaintewa was also arrested for arson on 2/8/2024 in response to several fires along the riverside trail at that time. Investigation into this incident continues and there is currently no further information.
