The City of Grand Junction is developing a Sustainability and Adaptation Plan designed to address social, environmental, and economic opportunities in the region and to ensure a healthy future for all community members. The Community Steering Committee, appointed by City Council, has been working on the plan since May of 2023 and is seeking community input on the key themes of the plan. Those five key themes were developed with community outreach, input, and engagement and include: 1) climate resilience, 2) energy stewardship, 3) waste management, 4) water conservation, and 5) the built environment.
The community is invited to provide input on draft goals and strategies for the Sustainability and Adaptation project page online at EngageGJ.org. Information about the five key themes is outlined on the project page and is accompanied by open-ended questions and space for comments that will assist in developing plan strategies. The Sustainability and Adaptation project page will be open for input through Friday, January 19, 2024.
The next step in plan development is to identify goals and strategies. The city will be convening Technical Working Groups in collaboration with the Community Steering Committee to draft goals and actionable strategies for each of the five key themes.
