- Investigations Division
The Grand Junction Police Department Investigations Bureau is comprised of one commander, two sergeants, and fourteen detectives, who started their law enforcement careers in Patrol and were then assigned to Investigations based upon their knowledge, experience, and investigative ability. The Investigations Unit has two primary divisions, Crimes Against Persons and Crimes Against Property. When a call for service is generated through dispatch, a patrol officer is typically the first point of contact. Once an initial report is generated, all cases involving potential felony charges are reviewed by the Investigations sergeants and then assigned to a detective for follow-up. Within the Investigations Unit, there are an additional five civilian employees who perform a variety of priority tasks, such as follow-up on missing persons and runaways, registered sex offender management, and crime analysis.
