File a Report Online
The Grand Junction Police Department offers a robust level of online services. If you prefer to file a police report for a non-urgent matter from the comfort of your own home, at a time that's convenient for you, our online reporting portal is a great option. An officer will review all online report submissions. You will be able to print a free copy of your incident report once it is completed. An officer may or may not contact you, depending on the nature of your report.
If this is an emergency, or if the crime is happening right now, call 911.
Filing a Report
You may file a police report online if the following are true:
- This is not an emergency.
- This does not involve a violent crime or domestic violence.
- There was no evidence left behind. (Evidence can include any item left behind by the suspect.)
- This incident occurred within the city limits of Grand Junction. (Check city limits here.)
- You have a valid email address.
If any of these criteria do not fit your incident, please call dispatch to file your report with an officer at 970-242-6707.

About the Online Reporting System
Please carefully review the crime types, definitions, and examples offered below, and begin your report from the appropriate tab. If your incident does not fall into one of the listed categories, call dispatch at 970-242-6707 to file your report with an officer.
Be sure you have all materials you'll need to complete this report before you begin, to include serial numbers, financial information, or anything else related to the reporting and investigation of this crime. Once you begin your report, there is not option to save your progress.
Other Actions You Can Take
- Report fraud - Please complete the Fraud Packet (PDF), then call non-emergency dispatch at 970-242-6707 to schedule a time to meet with an officer. Fraud reports cannot be submitted online.
- Provide a general crime tip, such as suspicious content online or suspected drug activity to Crime Stoppers of Mesa County.
Be aware that false reporting is a crime.
Did the crash involve:
Fatality or injury requiring medical attention?
A hit and run where suspect information is known?
Damage to public property, other than wildlife or fleet vehicles?
Suspected driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs?
If any of the above are true, you must call non-emergency dispatch at (970)242-6707 and file your report with an officer.
PLEASE NOTE: The Grand Junction Police Department does not manage, maintain, or have access to crash reports filed through the State system. Any requests for support with this system or requests for copies of reports should be directed to the Department of Revenue at (303)205-5600.
Inform patrol officers of consistent neighborhood problems or conditions that are not of an emergency nature. This initiative it designed to be an effective, proactive response to neighborhood concerns.
Example: Groups of disorderly teens who routinely congregate in public parks or local street corners.
Most violations reported to this division include but are not limited to: Barking dog, dogs at large, aggressive dog at the fence line, nuisance cats, etc.
For immediate safety risks or emergencies, please call 9-1-1. Seek medical attention as necessary. Only bites that break the skin are required to be reported.

Per Grand Junction Municipal Code 6.04.010 “It shall be unlawful for any animal owner to fail to provide any animal with proper food, drink, protection from the weather and necessary medical treatment to prevent suffering, or to cause any of these acts or omissions to be done.” Please be aware that livestock is not required to be provided with shelter.
Example: Animal welfare checks
Heavy vehicle or foot traffic continuously or at odd hours, unknown person(s) behaving suspiciously, or scams in which no goods, services, money or personal information has been exchanged.
Example: Possible drug activity people coming in and out of a residence at all hours. Information on suspects of a theft.
The unauthorized taking of property belonging to another without that person's consent. This does not include forcibly taking something from your person or theft of a motor vehicle. *Stolen firearms cannot be reported online. Please call (970)242-6707 to speak to an officer.
Example: Items stolen from your yard, driveway, porch, or other common shared areas such as garages or laundry facilities of apartment complexes. The theft can not have occurred as a result of a break-in to your home, business or vehicle. Loss of mislaid property is not a theft.
If you have a traffic complaint (speeders, stop sign violations, school zone and/or construction zone violations, etc.) or a parking complaint that you wish to report.
This does not include in-progress incidents where suspect information is known (i.e. license plate and vehicle description).
Example: Observed speeding in a specific area at specific times of the day or night if no immediate danger exists.
