Join us for an evening that brings people together to enjoy good food and good company - culminating with glittering lights and glowing messages cast onto the water.
Water lanterns have been used in many different cultures for thousands of years. Depending on the area of the world the meaning or symbolism of lanterns can represent sending away disasters, welcoming happiness, guiding the souls of the departed, or remembering ancestors and loved ones. This event is unique to every individual.
5:30 p.m. - Food trucks, music, lantern decorating
6:45 p.m. - All lanterns will be launched on the Butterfly Pond
8:00 p.m. - Lanterns will be retrieved, you may take it home if you can find it amongst the others.
If you pre-purchased your lantern kit, your materials will be available for pick-up at 5:30 p.m. the night of the event. Lantern kits will be available for purchase as well. Your lantern kit will include a black marker. Feel free to bring more colors, stickers, or whatever you would like to add to your lantern to bring your creation to life! If you finish decorating early, please bring an activity to keep you occupied until the scheduled launch time.
Food trucks will be on-site. Bring chairs and blankets to make yourself comfortable.
Sunset will be at 6:45 p.m. and the lanterns will be launched on their magical water journey shortly after that. Once the lanterns are launched the awe-inspiring sight will be for all to enjoy.
Our staff will retrieve the lanterns and no trash will be left in the pond. You are welcome to take your markers home, as well as your lantern and light if you can locate it amongst all the others. The lanterns are paper and the LED lights will be recycled. We cannot guarantee that your lantern will be returned to you.
